The shape of the human brain has changed dramatically from what I learned in college. The thalamus is huge as well as the cerebellum. Many new structures have also shown up in the center area which can be seen in cross section drawings like this one. They have taken up large areas that used to be the grey matter aka the cerebral cortex which is the outer rind of the brain that contains most of our neurons. In fact, I am seeing now that the grey matter is only supposedly 1.5 to 5mm thick now. That area used to be most of the brain but now underneath the grey matter is what is called white matter which are are connective pathways and take up even more of the area that once was only grey matter. I did a multiple part video series on mandela effect brain changes almost 2 years ago starting here on my youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fazf77i5hso and some things have even continued to change since then but there is one thing that I did not cover much at that time. What do these many changes mean for us as a species??
Will the greater numbers of connections in the brain lead to more wholistic thinking? Will the decrease in neurons lead to less intellectual capacity and more susceptibility to emotional swings? Or maybe both? In fact I do think we are seeing both in current timeline society, at least compared to what many of us are accustomed to.
I have also said many times that I think the cerebellum now is MUCH larger than before. The cerebellum is said to be responsible for regulating voluntary motor movements like speech, motion, balance, etc. And I DO very much feel that my skill sets in all of those have much improved in recent years. I also see the same in the general populace with athletic events on tv.
So what will this mean for the new society considering changes are still in progress? Can we assume that everyone has even fully adapted to these new brain processing symptoms? Might some of the turmoil and emotion we see around as be the result of people having to constantly deal with new changes and nuances in how their own brains operate? I know I feel my mind works differently now, I can feel the changes, and I feel like I am still adapting.
This is why, once I really thought about it, I was able to dial back on lamenting how so many people are acting strangely in recent years. I think some or most of us are dealing with a level and rate of pressure and change that has maybe never even happened before. We are in my opinion experiencing new emotions and sensations and losing other ones we were familiar with. Our old coping mechanisms may not work as well and we are being faced with new challenges daily. And likely so is everyone else.
So what I wanted to say here is knowing what we now know, I suggest let's try to be kind and patient with others as well as ourselves. I don't think we are there yet, we are not done changing and adapting. The very brains we are attempting to operate with are altering on a regular basis. Change and the unknown can be scary and there are bound to be some bumps in the road on the way. Sure it can be disconcerting that people are acting differently than we are used to. But we probably don't even know how to use these brains effectively yet. In fact when you think about it, I am surprised we have done as well as we have considering all these challenges, so lets try to be patient with others and ourselves as we all try to adapt! :-)
